Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy (O.T.), is a healthcare profession that services individuals whose ability to function in daily life has been affected. This disruption often occurs from physical illness, injury, disability, developmental problems, physical deconditioning due to aging, mental illness and/or from emotional problems.
Occupational Therapists evaluate the person’s physical restrictions as well as the psychosocial factors that adversely affect activities of daily life following the injury or illness.
The primary objective of Occupational Therapy Treatment is to help restore the person’s way of life. This includes improving the person’s autonomy, functional ability and overall productivity in all aspects of his or her life, often helping them to get back to work.
Occupational Therapist’s are also trained to evaluate the client’s home and/or work environnement. By performing a Home or a Job Task Analysis, the Occupational Therapist can provide recommendations to improve the person’s functional ability when they are in their home or work environment.
